HOOPS ROUND UP: Basketball teams begin post season runs

  Maiden and Indian basketball teams both took the district championships in the past week.

  The 22-5 (10-0 in district) Maidens began with a bi-district game in Van Horn where they defeated Clint, 100-57, on Feb. 11.

  The 18-6 (9-0 in district) Indians had their last district game versus Fort Stockton cancelled due to weather.The varsity and JV will play a scrimmage at 5 p.m. instead with admission donations to benefit the Cottrell family.

Bi-district play for the Indians will begin on Feb. 18 versus Fabens in Fort Stockton. Game time is 6 p.m.

  The Indians are currently ranked number seven in 4A by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches.  The Maidens are ranked 20th in the same poll.
