In for two– Sophomore Carter Johnson goes up for two of his 26 points against Greenwood on Feb. 2. The Indians defeated the Rangers, 73-47, as they began the second round of district play.

The Indian basketball team hopes to continue its roll of the past month as it pits its undefeated 6-0 district record against Andrews in the main gym at 8 p.m. tonight.

“We really found our groove,” senior guard Luke Wimmer said. “We have been playing as a team and that’s how you win games.”

The Indians were victorious in their first meeting with Andrews on Jan. 19, beating them 53-46.

“We just have to play good baketball,” senior forward Blayne Childers said. “If we play like we have been, there’s no way we’ll lose.”

The Indians defeated the Greenwood Rangers, 73-47, on Feb. 2, improving their overall record to 16-10. Sophomore Carter Laramore put up 26 points in the win, while sophomores Carter Johnson and Reese Moore each had 11.

“We have been playing good basketball all year,” Coach David Williams said. “We played some really tough teams, I think our district record shows how well prepared we are because of that.”

The Indians started their 8-0 run after a loss to Kermit which sparked a win 68-52 win over Levelland to knock them out of the top 20.

“I feel like we just clicked during the Levelland game,” Wimmer said. “Ever since then we have really been playing off our strengths as a team, and haven’t allowed egos to get in the way.”

The Indians have four district games left including tonight’s against Andrews.
