Feed the break– Junior post Blayne Childers passes the ball to senior guard Brennen Dominguesz on the break during the Feb. 10 victory over Pecos. The Indians took a 59-42 win to keep an undefeated 8-0 district record.

The Indians face Monahans tonight at 7:30 p.m. in the main gym.

With only two district games remaining, the Indians are 20-8 on the season and 8-0 in district after a 59-42 win over Pecos on Feb. 10.

“It will be hard from here on out,” junior guard Luke Wimmer said. “I do believe we can stay undefeated, though.”

Coach David Williams said the Indians will come out with a win tonight.

“We beat Monahans by 30 at their place,” Williams said. “We are entering this game pretty confident.”

The Indians will probably see teams like Clint or Fabens in the bi-district round.

“I haven’t seen them play, but right now we are concentrating on district,” Williams said. “When we get to that point, we will get some film and see what we are up against.”

The Indians have been playing more as a team in recent games.

“We are working very hard together day in and day out,” Wimmer said. “If we continue to do this in the games, there is no telling how good we can be. For right now we need to treat every game like it could be our last.”

The Indians would have to win four three play-off games to make it to the region tournament and two more to make it to state.

“The sky is the limit,” Wimmer said. “If we keep grinding and working hard every day, we can achieve anything we want to in the playoffs.”
