Club business–Junior Art Club President Nikki Fehr runs a meeting during assembly time on Feb. 13. The Art Club meets every Tuesday during assembly time in Room 301.

Art Club has been around for 5 years is still increasing its membership.

“It’s been around for years, but it wasn’t really known,” junior President Nikki Fehr said. “I joined when I was a freshman, and over time, it just grew little by little.”

The club meets every Tuesday during tutorials. They have had two fundraisers this year to help fund the trips they take to Lubbock on the first Friday of every month.

“We call it First Friday, and there’s a festival that shows only art,” Fehr said. “We just go around to art buildings and schools in the Lubbock area who show art, and sometimes there are professional artists showing their paintings.”

Club members are also working toward Visual Art Student Event or VASE  competition.

“I am currently working two different art pieces,” Fehr said. “I thought of these ideas because I was inspired by the works I saw at First Friday.”

The art club is still building its membership and welcomes any newcomers. Contact any officer for more information:  President Fehr, junior Jennifer Penner as vice president, junior Brittney Weeks as secretary, junior Kayleaigh Maxie as treasurer and junior Dusty Barron as publicity manager.
