Junior qualifies for state with art project

Junior Shyan Lujan advanced to state in Visual Art Scholastic Event competition on Feb. 19 at Frenship High School.
Lujan’s artwork was a painting called Stop to Taste Something New.
“I wanted to find a style that would help me relax and destress,” Lujan said. “It was a style that wouldn’t hold me to the pressure of keeping things realistic. I didn’t have anything in mind when I started painting. I poured colored water onto a paper, and if I saw something there, I painted it.”
Lujan will be judged at state on April 27-28 in San Marcos.
