‘GREASE’ IS THE WORD: Musical earns funds for theater department

Drumming up business– Grease chorus members, senior Kolt Blackmon, sophomore Ransom Edwards, sophomore Bryce Karr and freshman Dillon Gutierrez perform at the Jan. 22 pep rally. The theater department also put up placards all over the building to draw interest to the musical.

The theater department performed the musical Grease three times in January as a fund raiser.

The cast and crew also performed at a pep rally to boost attendance.

Audiences packed the performing arts center for $5 each on Jan. 22, 23 and 25.

“It was many hours and many long nights of practice,” senior Abby Navarro, who played Betty, said. “It was a lot of fun, and a lot of people got to enjoy it.”

Even though performances had a few imperfections, audience members praised the show.

“The lighting was off and the mics would glitch,” junior Kimberlee Peters said, “but they did well besides that. They can sing really well.”
