I’M JUST SAYING: Marvel to release postponed project in fourth phase
With movie and television production starting again, there is a definite flurry of activity among fans across the Internet. In 2020, a brand new series on Disney+, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier was about to be released when COVID-19 shut it down. Its much-anticipated release is now set for March. One of the first things that you must know about the Marvel Cinematic Universe is that it releases its movies in phases. There are three current phases. Phase one includes the movies from 2008 to 2012, such as the first and second Iron Man movies, The Incredible Hulk (2008), the first Thor (2011), Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) and Avengers Assemble (2012).
Then came MCU’s second phase, which included movies made from 2013 to 2015. The third Iron Man movie (2013), Thor: The Dark World (2013), Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), Guardians of the Galaxy (2014), Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), and Ant-Man (2015).
Phase two introduced a lot of major players, but the third phase is where some of the most influential and popular movies began to pop up. Phase three lasted from 2016 to 2019 and contained Captain America: Civil War (2016), Doctor Strange (2016), Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017), Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), Thor: Ragnarok (2017), Black Panther (2018), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018), Captain Marvel (2019), Avengers: Endgame (2019), and Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019).
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will begin new phase for MCU. This fourth phase is supposed to start off with the new Black Widow movie, whose release was delayed to May 2021, but the television shows that are being released on Disney+ can be considered early starters of phase four. The main story of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier occurs after Avengers: Endgame, where Steve Rogers has stepped down as Captain America. Sam Wilson, who is the Falcon, stars along with Steve Rogers’s childhood friend Bucky Barnes, who was introduced in Captain America: The Winter Soldier as the Winter Soldier. The show is expected to portray different character arcs for the two characters, but it is also expected to lean heavily on Sam’s internal struggle when it comes to becoming the new Captain America. Their main enemies will be Helmut Zemo, played by Daniel Brühl, and a group known as the Flag-Smashers. As usual, the characters will struggle with the government and with themselves.
Phase four is going to be a total twist from the most common stories we know. Steve Rogers is no longer Captain America, Tony Stark is dead, and there are positions ready to be taken up. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is different from WandaVision, which is more mystical and loosely connected to the MCU. It will likely wake the viewer up to life after the disappearance of our famous heroes and show how characters who differ from the “usual” can become just as powerful as their predecessors. The show is a highly anticipated watch and honestly, you can’t blame anyone for being excited for this new chapter in MCU. It’s going to be full of action, interesting drama, and a storyline that should make the heart of a superhero nerd pound with excitement.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is expected to arrive on Disney+ on March 19. There are currently six episodes planned and the show will be updated every week with a new episode.
