Swim team qualifies 11 for regionals across 12 events

Team with steam– The Aqua Tribe qualified 11 of its swimmers for regional competition in Andrews on Jan. 27.

Eleven Aqua Tribe swimmers qualified for region competition today and tomorrow in Andrews, after the district meet in Pecos on Jan. 20.

  The Indian team took third at district with 103 points, while the Maiden team was fourth with 46 points. 

  Regional qualifiers include the men’s 200-yard medley relay of junior Jermiah Wolf, freshman Reese Dickson, sophomore Francisco Sierra and freshman Gabryl Alaniz who finished fourth in a time of 2:14.47.

  Senior Shayne Howard fourth in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:09.8.

  Junior Eduardo Rodarte was third in the men’s 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:40.66.

  In the men’s 100-yard freestyle, Howard took seocnd in a time of 55.44, while junior Blake Neufeld was fourth in a time of 1:01.25.

  In the men’s 50-yard freestyle, Neufeld took fourth in a time of 26.01.

  Junior Landon Elder placed fourth in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 6:09.02.

  The women’s 200-yard freestyle relay of senior Megan Neufeld, senior Margaret Harder, junior Brooklyn Bailey and senior Karyme Martinez took second in a time of 2:11.76.

  The men’s 200-yard freestyle relay of Elder, Rodarte, Neufled and Howard took second in a time of 1:44.17.

  The women’s 400-yard relay of Bailey, Neufeld, Harder and Martinez took fourth in a time of 4:50.64.

  The men’s 400-yard relay of Elder, Rodarte, Neufeld and Howard took second in a time of 3:54.77.
