Two Maiden powerlifters qualify for regionals

Winning weight– With 340 pounds in the deadlift, junior Siria Martinez wins the home meet in January in the 181-pound division. Martinez is currently ranked second in the region, trailing first place by 75 pounds.

Two Maiden powerlifters will compete in the regional meet in Greenwood on March 2.

Last year’s state qualifier, junior Siria Martinez, took first in the 181-pound category at the Seagraves meet on Feb. 16, finishing in second place in the region.

Senior Chloe Gonzalez also qualified for regionals with a third place finish in the 132-pound category in Seagraves. That put her in eleventh place in the region standings to qualify.

Results of the Seagraves Meet–Feb. 16

Maidens took sixth overall with 11 points.

114-pound division–Arielle Fehr-seventh (200 + 90 + 190=480 pounds), Rani Allain-ninth (175 + 85 + 195 =455 pounds)

132-pound division–Chloe Gonzalez-third (245 + 115 + 275 =635 pounds), Dayana Busanes-fifth (260 + 105 + 255 = 620 pounds), Ruby Reyes-sixth (230 + 100 + 235 = 565 pounds), Jessie Beaubien-10th (185 + 75 + 185 = 445 pounds)
