The Indian varsity football team took out the Merkel Badgers, 14-7, in the season opener on Aug. 30 in the Badgers’ stadium.

The Indians scored both touchdowns in the second quarter on a punt return by junior receiver/running back Sabraun Adams. Junior running back Dustin Lira also scored on a one-yard run. Although the extra point failed on the first touchdown, junior tight end Grant Petty evened it out with a two-point conversion reception from junior quarterback Jarett Johnson after the second touchdown.

The leading rusher was senior running back Addison Parum who rushed 18 times for 89 yards.
