Speech team wins at Snyder Tournament

The speech team took sweepstakes at the Snyder tournament on Nov. 21.

In duo interpretation, juniors Faith Klassen and Lauren Franco took first, senior Destiny Winn and junior Grace Hatley took second, seniors Blayne Childers and Kelby Miller took third, senior Ivan Froese and junior Madeline Hiebert took fourth, juniors Ashley Harder and Nikki Loewen took fifth, and seniors Vanessa Torres and Haylie Hicks took sixth.

In duet acting, Winn and Torres took first, Childers and Harder took second, Hatley and Klassen took third, senior Kolt Blackmon and Hicks took fourth, senior Daniel Griffin and freshman Phiona Hiebert took fifth, and Miller and M. Hiebert took sixth.

In dramatic interpretation, Hatley took first, Harder took second, Klassen took third, P. Hiebert took fourth, Childers took fifth, and sophomore Isabel Acosta took sixth.

In humorous interpretation, Miller took first, Froese took second, M. Hiebert took third, Childers took fourth, Griffin took fifth, and Torres took sixth.

In poetry, Harder took first, freshman Dillon Gutierrez took second, Childers took fourth, Klassen took fifth, Franco took sixth, and sophomore Austen Hernandez took seventh.

In prose, Harder took first, Gutierrez took second, Childers took fourth, Klassen took fifth, Froese took sixth, freshman Amy Schultz took seventh, and Loewen took eighth.

In domestic extemporaneous speaking, senior Cassandra Schultz took second, and senior Antonio Porras took third.

Miller was named outstanding in interpretation.

Acosta, Hatley, Childers, Harder, Winn, Torres, Klassen, and Franco earned Texas Forensics Association state qualifications.
