Sophomores steer takes championship at Fort Worth livestock show

FFA members competed in the Fort Worth livestock show on Jan. 29-Feb. 6. Sophomore Jarrot Foote took champion with his American crossbred steer.

“I do enjoy stock showing,” Foote said. “It’s all I do 24/7.”

Foote entered the show with his pig and steer. Throughout the show Foote said he needed to show his animals to the best of his ability to do well.

“I won breed champion, America exotic with my steer,” Foote said. “I also got third place with my pig.”

Foote will go back to Fort Worth’s barn this weekend to make a sale on his grand champion steer.

“Getting champion was my biggest accomplishment,” Foote said. “Not many people get to experience this.”

Nine Seminole students’ animals took awards in Fort Worth. Senior Jaclyn Beaty showed a lamb.

“I felt accomplished because my lamb didn’t do too badly,” Beaty said. “It gives me more confidence now because that was my Houston lamb.”

The next show for FFA and ag students is in San Antonio beginning Feb. 16.
