Hang time– Demonstrating what their Warbot can do, junior Jesus Medina, freshman Alexa Macias and senior Mercedes Flores remotely control a hang maneuver. The robot could pick up items and maneuver through obstacles based on their commands.

Seven industrial arts students advanced to World Warbot qualifying competition in Dallas on Feb. 22 after their robots won in Seagraves on Feb. 1.

Teams built robots which by remote control will execute a series of tasks such as picking up a ball, pulling up on a bar, moving items, etc.

The qualifying members of the SHS Warbots Robotics team include senior Mercedes Flores, sophomore Alexa Macias, junior Jesus Medina, freshman Mandy Ortega, freshman Britney Sumayah, freshman Brandon Sumayah and freshman Sarah Smith.

If the Warbots win in Dallas, they will advance to World Competition in California on March 10.
