The forensics team took sweepstakes and an award for squad efficiency at the Americas High School meet in El Paso on Oct. 8.
In cross-examination debate the team of seniors Haylee Dodson and D.J. Rickman took the championship.
In duet acting sophomore Jadon Hatley and senior Brooklynn James took the championship, sophomore Dakota Crump and senior Jasmine Torres took second, while senior Mason Griffin and Rickman took third.
In poetry Hatley was first, Rickman was third, Crump was fourth, while Torres was fifth.
In prose Griffin was second, Crump was third, Torres was fourth and senior Angela Sims was sixth.
In original oratory Dodson was first as well as taking the championship in domestic extemporaneous speaking.
In humorous interpretation Griffin was second, Hatley was fourth and Torres was fifth.
In dramatic interpretation Hatley was second.
Dodson was named outstanding speaker, and Hatley was named outstanding interper.
Griffin, Hatley, James, Griffin, Dodson and Rickman earned enough points to qualify for Texas Forensics Association state competition in Amarillo in March.
