Freshman Austin Shortes was named to the Texas Music Educator’s Association Small School All-State Choir on Bass 2 part after area tryouts on Jan. 9.

“This is a very exciting experience,” Shortes said. “I am honored to be able to take part in such a great choir.”

Shortes will perform at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio on Feb. 13 as part of the TMEA convention.

“I am very excited,” choir Director Eric Hindman said. “I have never had a freshman make the all-state choir before.”
