The speech and debate team won sweepstakes at the Lubbock High School South Plains Swing tournament on Sept. 16.
In foreign extemporaneous speaking, sophomore Shawn Barndollar was sixth.
In domestic extemporaneous speaking, junior Trey Dodson was sixth.
In cross-examination debate, senior Haylee Dodson and junior Kevin Wallace were third.
In original oratory, H. Dodson was second.
In dramatic interpretation, senior Jasmine Torres was first, sophomore Jadon Hatley was second, senior Brooklynn James was third, Barndollar was fifth and senior Angela Sims was sixth.
In humorous interpretation, Hatley was third.
In prose, D.J. Rickman was first, Torres was third, senior Mason Griffin was fourth and junior Bryan Rickman was sixth.
In poetry, junior Jasmine Ruiz was second, D. Rickman was fourth, sophomore Andrew Johnson was fifth and sophomore Brice Gibbons was sixth.
In duet acting, D. Rickman and Griffin were first and Hatley and James were second.
H. Dodson was named outstanding cross-examination debater with 90 out of 90 possible speaker points. Torres was named outstanding interper. James also qualified for state Texas Forensics Association competition in March for dramatic interpretation.
