Three art students took state qualifying honors on Feb. 19 at the Visual Art Scholarship Event in Wolfforth’s Frenship High School.
State qualifiers are junior Ayla Johnson with her painting, junior Conner McDonald with his sculpture and senior Jorge Sierra with his painting.
Of the 35 students sponsor Brice Autry took to competition at Frenship, 33 received medals.
“Our school was one of the top percentages of the students who received medals,” Autry said. “I’m very proud of them. They’ve worked very hard.”
Students who received top scores and a regional medal(s) include: junior Trevor Alexander, sophomore Kristen Alvarado (two medals), senior Trace Armstrong, senior Aidee Avila (two medals), sophomore Ashley Blair (two medals), senior Stephanie Fehr, freshman Crystal Flores, sophomore Haley Gann, sophomore Cassandra Gonzales, junior Luisa Houben, junior Ayla Johnson (two medals), senior Alven Klassen, senior Peter Klassen, senior Cynthia Martinez, junior Connor McDonald, senior Ky Morris (two medals), sophomore Tara Parkey, senior Daniel Pedroza (two medals), senior Stephanie Quiring, junior Allison Reimer, senior Jorge Sierra (two medals), senior Jayci Smyers, junior Maggie Teichroeb, senior Joey Todd (two medals) and junior Madison Wood.
