Cheerleading tryouts will be held on March 9 in the main gym during a.m. assembly time for student voting. The candidates will perform in front of judges that afternoon.
“Popularity isn’t what gets the cheerleaders picked,” cheerleading sponsor Suzanne Overton said. “The judges’ opinions are 75 percent, and 25 percent is popular vote.”
The top 10 scores will put candidates on the varsity cheerleading squad, while the next eight top scores will make the junior varsity squad. A mascot will also be chosen. No alternates will be selected.
