The UIL academic team took the small school sweepstakes award at the Permian academic meet on Feb. 26 with 198 points, defeating second place Andrews by two points.
The math and science teams took the second place sweepstakes overall.
The mathematics team took second place overall. In the 12th grade division, senior Connie Friesen was third and senior Tommy Harms was fourth. In the 11th grade division, junior Danielle Weeks took second, junior Lindsey Ivins was sixth and junior Ed Velo was 10th.
In the 10th grade division, sophomore Elijah Becker was first and sophomore Dexter Longley was third.
The science team took the team championship. In the 12th grade division, Harms was fifth and Friesen was sixth. In the 11th grade division, Velo was first and Weeks was second. Longley took the top score in physics.
In calculator 12th grade division, Friesen was third and Harms was seventh. In the 11th grade division, Ivins was first.
In number sense 12th grade division, Harms was fifth. In the 11th grade division, Weeks was third. In the 10th grade division, Longley was fourth and Becker was sixth.
The social studies team took the championship with senior Bradley Melton in second and junior Matt Flowers and Blue Franklin tying for fourth.
The journalism team took the overall team championship with 88 points over four events.
In news writing, senior Katie Garcia took third and sophomore Crystal Fehr took sixth.
In feature writing, Garcia was first and Fehr was second. In editorials, Garcia was second.
In headline writing, Garcia was first and Fehr was third.
