Senior takes state championship in powerlifting

Three time state qualifier senior Amanda Rodriguez took first in the 105-pound division at the state powerlifting meet in Waco on March 17.

Rodriguez squatted 260 pounds, benched 155 pounds and dead lifted 300 pounds for a total of 715 pounds, taking the state championship by 25 pounds over Alyssa Canales of Corpus Christi West Oso. Rodriguez’s lift took Seminole to 12th place in team standings.

At the men’s state championship on March 24 in Abilene, junior Aron Dominguez took ninth in the 181-pound category. while junior Emmanuel Dominguez took 13th in the 198-pound division.
