Choir qualifies 43 for state solo and ensemble

Sixty-four choir members competed in UIL solo and ensemble contest at Frenship High School on Feb. 4. Sixty-two vocalists took Division I superior ratings, while 43 of those advanced to state competition in May in Pflugerville.

Those earning a Division I on a  Class I solo and qualifying for the state included: junior Isabel Acosta, sophomore Seth Allain, sophomore Abigail Avitia Lopez, sophomore Marc Barricklow, junior Courtney Blair, freshman Hailey Blair, freshman Garrett Currie, junior Kenna Currie, senior Morgan Davidson, senior Yanomi Garcia, senior Morgan Gersbach, senior Alex Hindman, senior Kaitlyn Hogue, sophomore Barbara Landeros Capetillo, freshman Erin Lentz, senior Laura Patterson, junior Jamie Philipp, sophomore Josh Ramirez, senior Baelee Rodriguez, sophomore Austin Shortes, senior Kaitlyn Summers, junior Lori Wilson, junior Abigail Wolf and senior Monique Zamora.

Three ensembles qualified for state with Division I ratings in the madrigal division. Two ensembles performing the madrigal, “Shoot, False Love, I Care Not” by Thomas Morley were–Madrigal I: C. Blair, Garcia, Hindman, sophomore Nat Little, Philipp, senior Damian Salazar Welch, Shortes, senior Gabby Torres, Wilson and  Wolf; and Madrigal II: G. Currie, K. Currie, sophomore Kambree Ellison, junior Isaac Garcia, junior Amanda Klassen, junior Kaly Manzanares, sophomoe Ivan Neufeld, Patterson, Ramirez and senior Angel Tanner.

Another ensemble performing the madrigal, “Coletta” by Francois-Auguste Gevaert qualified for state. Madrigal III included sophomore Jesus Bustamante, freshman Destiny Conejo, freshman Isabella Friesen, freshman Delaney Hall, freshman Melanie Giesbrecht, Lentz, sophomore Steven Lin, freshman Miguel Ramirez, freshman Dylan Stokes and freshmen Luis Zubiate.

Choir members who earned a Division I ratings on Class II solos (do not advance) included freshman Damon Casares, freshman Jaicen Clark, freshman Braylee Dufour,  Friesen,  Giesbrecht,  Hall, sophomore Mandy Morales and freshman Erica Unger.
