Seven powerlifters placed in the top 10 in the region, qualifying for regional competition.

Six Maidens will compete in regionals in Monahans on March 5.

They include senior Allison Cope and junior Emily Archer who qualified in seventh and ninth place respectively in the 114-pound division.

In the 181-pound division, sophomore Alexia Gonzales qualified in third position in the region.

In the 123-pound division, senior Arielle Fehr qualified in seventh position, while junior Jazmyn Sharko Valdez qualified in 11th through two of her lifting categories being higher than the 10th place qualifier.

In the 259-pound division, senior Yarely Delgado qualified in first position.

On the men’s side, senior Alexander Wootton qualified for region with the first position in the 242-pound division. He will compete at regionals in Monahans on March 8.
