One team and two individuals qualify for region cross country

Region bound–The Maiden cross country team took second overall to qualify for the region meet. Team included freshman Emilie Sias, freshman Kyra Giesbrecht, freshman Ashley Vizcaino, senior Xoe Rosalez, sophomore Melanie Johnson, freshman Glenda Giesbrecht and senior Melody Martinez.

The Maiden team and one Indian runner qualified for region competition at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock on Oct. 25.

The Maidens scored 80 points as the second place team at district on Oct. 11 in Andrews. Sophomore Melanie Johnson took eight to qualify individually.

Sophomore Landon Elder took seventh individually on the men’s side to qualify for regionals. The Indian team took fourth overall with 73 points.
