Two Maiden powerlifters qualify for state

Two Maiden powerlifters qualified for state at the region meet in Monahans on March 7.

Senior Siria Martinez took the region championship in the 165-pound division, lifting a total of 965 pounds. She squatted 405 pounds, benched 205 pounds and deadlifted 355 pounds.

Junior Kasey Long took third in the 148-pound division, and while normally only first and second place advance, her 800-pound total was an exception, qualifying her for the state meet. She squatted 330 pounds, benched 160 pounds and deadlifted 310 pounds.

The state meet was to be held in Waco on March 20. Due to ongoing CoV-19 spread, the state meet has been suspended.

Senior Karah Lambert came in fourth in the 148-pound division with a total weight of 750 pounds, while sophomore Yarely Delgado was sixth in the 259-pound division, lifting 700 total pounds.
