Dear class of 2012,
As our junior year comes to an end, we should all be concerned about our senior year. We should be thinking about what we plan to leave behind. A 2010 graduate tried to write a column about the legacy her senior class would leave behind; however, she couldn’t find a single legacy item. We will not be that senior class.
Do we want to be remembered as the senior class that the faculty and staff couldn’t wait to get rid of? Senior classes in the past have made conscious efforts to be remembered, but are they being remembered in a good way?
As we think about the year to come, I hope to see friendships kept and bonds being formed instead of a class that never stopped griping about the underclassmen. I hope we decide to spend our time making memories with friends that will last forever instead of memories of revenge plotted on the sophomores or whomever else challenges us.
I hope we can be the senior class that underclassmen love and teachers hate to see graduate. Let’s be the class that is missed after graduation. I don’t want the rest of the school to celebrate when we leave, even though we will.
Let’s use our senior year to mend broken friendships, make new friends rather than griping about rules, ruining relationships and counting down the days until graduation.
Let’s be the class that changed everything. I hope we can start traditions and leave everyone in this school knowing that we were the best we could be.
