Senior Reed Chappell and junior Haylee Dodson took the championship in cross-examination debate in Big Spring on Oct. 30.
“It was really hard,” Dodson said. “We debated San Angelo Central four out of six rounds. They’re pretty epic. For us to beat a counter plan, which Seminole doesn’t do, is like winning a basketball game even though you don’t know how to play basketball.”
Juniors Mason Griffin and D.J. Rickman accumulated enough points to qualify for Texas Forensic League competition in Dallas in March.
In poetry, freshman Delaney Clark was eighth place.
In duet acting, Clark and freshman Alexis Hastings were sixth, and Griffin and Rickman were fifth.
In domestic extemporaneous speaking, Dodson was fifth.
In foreign extemporaneous speaking, Dodson was second.
In prose, junior Jasmine Torres was eighth.
In duo interpretive acting, Torres and senior Savanna Winn were sixth.
In dramatic interpretive acting, Winn was third.
