Publications take state awards from UIL

The publications staffs took 51 Individual Achievement Awards in 4A statewide from the UIL’s  Interscholastic League Press Conference on May 8.

  The War Whoop newspaper took a Bronze Star in statewide competition (one of 16 given from junior high through 6 A).

  The online newspaper warwhooponline.com took an Award of Distinguished Merit in statewide competition.

  The BEAT broadcast took an Award of Achievement in statewide 4A compeitiion.

  Individual Achievement Awards in 4A statewide competition included: Bradley Everett–second place general news story; Aaliyah Booth–first place in sports feature story; Robin Franklin and Alayna Amen tied with Bradley Everett and Moises Ybaben Burciaga–first place in anchor team presentation; Sydney Gonzales, Robin Franklin, Esmeralda Castillo Derma, Moises Ybaben Burciaga–second for technical directing; Sydney Gonzales–first place for intro sequence; Moises Ybaben Burciaga, Sydney Gonzales, Bradley Everett–first in special coverage.

  The 2020 Tepee Yearbook took an Award of Distinguished Merit and was nominated for a Star Award.
