Speech team wins Lubbock High meet

The speech team took sweepstakes at the Lubbock High meet on Dec. 14 for the eighth consecutive time.  The team defeated 30 other schools.

  In duet acting, junior Cathryn Johnson and senior Daniel Salas took first, juniors Alayna Amen and Moises Ybaben Burciaga took second, juniors Natasha Fehr and Sky Reyes took fourth, sophomores Michael Fehr and Makayla Randolph took sixth.

  In humorous interpretation, junior Seth Barrientes was fourth, Reyes took fifth, and Natasha Fehr was sixth.

  In domestic extemporaneous speaking, junior Payton Carter took fourth, junior Bradley Everett was sixth.

  In duo interpretation, juniors Reese Cooper and Johnson took fifth. 

  In poetry interpretation, Salas took first, Cooper was fourth, Ybaben Burciaga was fifth, and Natasha Fehr was sixth.

  In dramatic interpretation, Cooper took first, Johnson took second, senior Madison Dyck was third, and junior Micah Smith took fourth.

  In prose interpretation, Natasha Fehr took third, Dyck was fifth, Michael Fehr and Reyes took sixth.

  In foreign extemporaneous speaking Johnson was second.

  Salas was named outstanding interper for the meet, and sophomore Dane Wimmer was outstanding Lincoln-Douglas debater.
