Speech team takes sweepstakes in El Paso

The speech team took sweepstakes at the El Paso meet on Oct. 19.

In domestic extemporaneous speaking, junior Payton Carter was fourth, senior Lisa Loewen was sixth.

In dramatic interpretation, junior Micah Smith was first, senior Madison Dyck took second, junior Reese Cooper took fourth, senior Jaicen Clark took fifth, junior Moises Ybaben Burciaga was sixth.

In duo interpretation, junior Cathryn Johnson and Cooper took second.

In humorous interpretation, senior Eleny Macias was third, junior Natasha Fehr took sixth.

In program oral interpretation, Cooper took first.

In prose, junior Sky Reyes took second, junior Andrea Neufeld took third, Dyck was fifth, sophomore Michael Fehr was sixth.

In poetry, Reyes was first, senior Daniel Salas was second, Dyck took third, sophomore Anthony Pedroza was fourth.

In duet acting, Johnson and Salas took first.

In Lincoln-Douglas debate, Loewen took first.

Cooper qualified for Texas Forensic Association state competition in the spring in both POI and dramatic interpretation.
