FFA members win at stock shows over past month

Out-of-state accolades– Senior Carlye Winfrey takes overall reserve grand champion in Denver, Colo.

The FFA stock show season continued at the National Western Stock Show in Denver, Colo.,  the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo and the Fort Worth Stock Show in the past month.

Senior Carlye Winfrey’s won the overall reserve grand champion market lamb of the National Western Stock Show in January with her medium heavyweight medium wool market lamb as well as champion of the Southdown breed market lamb division.

Winfrey took her lamb to the San Angelo show where she won  overall grand champion market lamb.

FFA members competed in the swine barn at the San Angelo show. Junior Jerry Knelsen placed second with his Class 1 Hampshire market barrow, junior Angela Alvidrez brought home a third place ribbon with her Class 2 Hampshire barrow. Both Knelsen and Alvidrez qualified for the premium sale. Senior Kameron Brown placed seventh with his Spot barrow, while sophomore Delaney Brown placed 10th with her Hampshire barrow. 

Winfrey also traveled to the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo where she exhibited her third place heavy weight Southdown market lamb.
