Speech team takes sweepstakes in El Paso

The speech team took sweepstakes at the El Paso meet on Sept. 8 while competing against 20 other schools.

In domestic extemporaneous speaking sophomore Cathryn Jonson took eighth.

In dramatic interpretation, sophomore Reese Cooper was fourth, freshman Andrew Laramore took fifth and junior Eleny Macias took sixth.

In humorous interpretation sophomore Seth Barrientes was fifth.

In poetry, Cooper took second, junior Jaicen Clark was third, and sophomore Alyssa Harder was fourth.

In prose, senior Dillon Gutierrez took first, Macias was second, Johnson took third, Barrientes was fourth, and senior Adriane Tarin was sixth.

In duet acting, Cooper and sophomore Shelton Furlow were first, Macias and Harder were second, while junior Madison Dyck and Gutierrez took third.

Cooper was named outstanding in interpretation for the meet.
