Three of five SHS debaters who went to the UIL district congressional debate meet on Nov. 10 swept the top three spots.

Senior Jimmie Vaughn took first place, senior Kyle Rickman placed second, and junior Cassandra Schultz took third.

“The competition was pretty good,” Vaughn said. “Seminole was well prepared.”

Vaughn was named outstanding congressman across all classifications.

“I was shocked,” Vaughn said. “This was my first time doing congressional debate.”

The three debaters qualified for the state meet in Austin in January.
