Festival raises $900 for veteran memorial

Taking one for the veterans, theater teacher Josh Harriman, art teacher Julee Reese and Athletic Director Chris Burtch sacrifice their faces to raise money for the Veteran’s Memorial at the Fall Festival on Nov. 27. The event earned $900 for the memorial.
The National Honor Society hosted the annual high school Fall Festival the day before Thanksgiving break began. The festival had not taken place since the 2010-2011 school year, and NHS sponsors decided to bring back the festivity.
“The festival raised approximately $900, which will be donated to the Gaines County Veteran’s Memorial,” sponsor Katie Ray said. “The memorial will be built in the Gaines County Park, where the money will be used to buy whatever supplies are needed.”
Due to the annual Christmas parade NHS did not host the nursing home Christmas dinner as planned.
The next service hour is due by Feb. 5.
