SOUNDBITE: The Batman easy to watch, hard to see Pattinson outside Twilight
Genre: Movie
Rating: PG-13
Assessment: ♦♦♦♦◊
The Batman (2022) was very entertaining to say the least. It was full of action and was not in the slightest boring at any point during the film. The movie ranged from dark and disturbing to downright hilarious, and I enjoyed every second of it. The mood for this film is not lighthearted but rather serious and tense.
I also thought the movie was funny, not ha-ha funny, but weird funny because I could not take Robert Pattinson seriously solely for the fact that he played Edward Cullen in the famed Twilight saga. Now don’t get me wrong, Pattinson did an amazing job as Batman, and he deserves to be recognized for all his amazing works rather than just being the person who played Edward Cullen, but it can be hard to separate Pattinson from that character when Twilight saga has made such a lasting impression. If you have never seen Twilight, you will have no problem.
The story was amazing and consistent throughout the film, constantly keeping me wondering what was going to happen next. The cast did an amazing job portraying the characters with stand outs in Andy Serkis (Gollum from The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, Ulysses Klaue from Marvel’s Black Panther) as Alfred. Paul Dano (Dwayne Hoover from Little Miss Sunshine) did an amazing job as the Riddler and managed to bring a very disturbing edge to the character.
The cinematography was good overall, however there were a few strange angles and the lighting was not the best in a few scenes.
The film was great and definitely worth the watch. I would rate it 4 out of 5.
