66 vocalists qualify for state solo and ensemble

Sixty-eight choir students earned first division superior ratings at UIL solo and ensemble competition on Feb. 5. Sixty-six will compete at the state level in May.

Twenty-nine soloist earned a first division superior rating on Class I solos to qualify for state including:  senior Ana Aguilera Hinojos, senior Andrew Banman, senior Dylan Banman, junior Nathan Banman, sophomore Aubrey Brown, senior Eli Call, freshman Owen Call, senior Kataryna Felan, senior Emma Flenniken, senior Isyss Flores, junior Abigail Fortner, sophomore Jessica Giesbrecht, senior Haley Guenther, senior Kasey Hogue, sophomore Jonathan Holt, junior Ashlyn Hyatt, senior Cason Johnson, sophomore Angie Klassen Enns, junior Garrett Lentz, senior Stanley Martens, senior Jordan Neufeld, freshman Kathy Peters, senior Elizabet Pinon, junior Olivia Rempel, freshman Javy Rodriguez, freshman Garrett Sellers, senior Caleb Stanley, senior Dalilah Trevino and senior Noe Ybaben Burciaga.

Eight ensembles qualified for state. Six of the ensembles performed the madrigal “Fair Phyllis I Saw” by John Farmer.

Ensemble one included Aguilera Hinojos, D.  Banman, E. Call, Felan, Flenniken, Johnson,  Klassen Enns and Stanley.

Ensemble two included A. Banman, senior Jimmy Dyck, sophomore Landon Elder, Hogue, junior Karsyn Hogue, Hyatt, Lentz and sophomore Aryn Roybal.

Ensemble three included N.  Banman, Flores, sophomore Aiden Garibay, Guenther, Pinon, Rempel, senior Isaiah Roybal and Ybaben Burciaga.

Ensemble four included Brown, Fortner, Giesbrecht, Holt, Martens, Neufeld,  Trevino and senior Dane Wimmer.

Ensemble five included O. Call, junior Remember Davis, sophomore Kambree Felan, sophomore Heidy Friesen, sophomore Makenna Neufeld, senior Ian Ramirez, junior Cristian Torres and sophomore Aricela Wiebe.

Ensemble six included freshman Alec Bergen, senior Jose Conejo, senior Allison Cope, junior Lacee Friesen, senior Sara Harder, senior Michaela Holley, senior David Koethler, junior Olivia Mueller and sophomore Josilyn Wilkerson.

Two other state-qualifying ensembles performed the madrigal “Coletta” by Francois-Auguste Gevaert.

Ensemble seven included freshman Michaela Baldwin, freshman Jack Chen, junior Stormy Coon, sophomore Nathan Friesen, freshman Myka Hernandez, freshman Caimbrien Jones, Rodriguez, freshman Ethan Salazar and senior Alexus Vizcayno.

Ensemble eight included sophomore Aidan Garza, junior Jordan Giesbrecht, freshman Lliani Lopez, freshman Margarita Maese Carbajal, freshman Genavieve Neudorf, Peters, freshman Isabella Rudder, Sellers and freshman Danny Tran.

Five soloists took a first division superior rating on Class II solos including freshman Ruthie Friesen, Jones, Maese Carbajal, Neudorf and Rudder.
