Speech team takes sweepstakes at Muleshoe meet

The speech team took sweepstakes over 19 other schools at the Muleshoe meet on Oct. 13.

In poetry, sophomore Reese Cooper took first, junior Madison Dyck took second, senior Dillon Gutierrez was third, junior Jaicen Clark was fourth and junior Eleny Macias took fifth.

In prose, sophomore Sky Reyes was second, sophomore Seth Barrientes was third, Macias took fourth, freshman Drew Laramore was fifth and sophomore Alayna Amen was sixth.

In humorous interpretation, Gutierrez took first, Barrientes was second, and sophomore Natasha Fehr was third.

In dramatic interpretation, Gutierrez was first, Reyes was fourth, Laramore was fifth and Dyck took sixth.

In duo interpretation, Macias and Cooper were first, Duck and Laramore took second, and Gutierrez and Barrientes were fifth.

In duet acting, Cooper and sophomore Shelton Furlow was third, Gutierrez and Dyck took fourth.

In domestic extemporaneous speaking, sophomore Azalia Contreras was fourth and Amen was fifth.

In Lincoln-Douglas debate, senior Nat Little took first.

Gutierrez was named outstanding in interp, and Little was named outstanding speaker.

Gutierrez and Barrientez qualified for state in March in Houston.
