Speech team wins Lubbock High meet

The speech team took sweepstakes at the Lubbock High meet on Dec. 9, defeating 30 other schools.

In program of oral interpretation, senior Isabel Acosta took fourth.

In dramatic interpretation, Acosta was third, sophomore Eleny Macias was fifth, and sophomore Madison Dyck took sixth.

In poetry interpretation, Acosta took second, Macias was fifth, and junior Phiona Hiebert was sixth.

In prose interpretation, Acosta was first.

In humorous interpretation, Acosta took first,  junior Dillon Gutierrez was fifth, and junior Jesus Bustamante was sixth.

In duo interpretation, the team of Acosta and Hiebert took first,  the team of senior Alex Gonzalez and sophomore Bryce Lopez was fourth, while the team of sophomore Alex Cuevas and junior Adriane Tarin was sixth.

In duet acting, the team of Gonzalez and Hiebert took first, while the team of junior Grace Emig and Gutierrez was fifth.

In policy debate, freshman Cathryn Johnson, and junior Carlye Winfrey took third.

In domestic extemporaneous speaking, Winfrey took first, and Johnson was second.

In Lincoln-Douglas debate, junior Nat Little took first.

In foreign extemporaneous speaking, Little was first.
