Speech team takes title in San Angelo

The speech team took the championship at the Central High School meet in San Angelo on Nov. 5.

In prose, senior Nikki Loewen took third, sophomore Carlye Winfrey was fourth, senior Grace Hatley was fifth, freshman Grace Emig took sixth, senior Lauren Franco was seventh, and junior Alex Gonzalez was ninth.

In poetry, sophomore Phiona Hiebert took first, senior Madeline Hiebert took third, senior Ashley Harder was fifth, Hatley was sixth, freshman Bryce Lopez took seventh and sophomore Dillon Gutierrez was ninth.

In humorous interpretation, P. Hiebert took first, M. Hiebert took fourth, junior Isabel Acosta took fifth, and senior Faith Klassen was sixth.

In dramatic interpretation, M. Hiebert took first, Loewen was second, Franco took third, Acosta was fourth, and Klassen took sixth.

In duet acting, Loewen and Hatley took second, junior Carter Laramore and M. Hiebert took third, P. Hiebert and Gutierrez took fifth, and Acosta and Klassen took sixth.

In duo interpretation, Franco and Gutierrez took first, Harder and Klassen were second, M. Hiebert and Loewen took third, Gonzalez and Laramore were fourth, while Acosta and Hatley were fifth.

In impromptu speaking, Winfrey took fifth.

In domestic extemporaneous speaking, junior Lori Wilson took sixth.

In foreign extemporaneous speaking, sophomore Nat Little took fourth.

In Lincoln-Douglas debate, Little took fourth.

M. Hiebert was named the outstanding interprer.
