The Maiden cross country team took 14th in the region meet on Oct. 21. at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock.
Coach Cara Barnard said that regionals “proved to be very difficult as we expected.”
Junior Addison Armstrong took 34th, five spots away from qualifying for the state meet.
“It was hard knowing I was so close,” Armstrong said, “but it was good knowing how far I’ve come.”
The Maidens grew closer during the season.
“Our team got really close, especially as district came,” Armstrong said. “We became a family and grew even closer making regionals.”
The Maidens qualified as a team in third on Oct. 6 at the district meet in Andrews, with two individual qualifiers.
