The Aqua Tribe with continue with its preseason with an overnight trip to the Grapevine meet from Nov. 30 through Dec. 2.
“We have had a lot of growth,” Coach Danielle Sims said. “We are succeeding in events with new and fast learners.”
Senior Jermiah Wolf said that the 2023 graduates left a standard to reach.
“We just have to push through with much practice to be like them,” Wolf said. “Without practice, we will never live up to their standards.”
The team is working toward the district meet in January.
“We are needing more practice along with more advanced swimmers,” Wolf said. “If we win, then that would be great. If we lose, then all we can do is try and get better and grow as a swim team.”
With the new 4A division, last years 400-yard free style relay qualified for state, taking 14th. This years team hopes to qualify members as well,
”I think we will do well,” sophomore Laisha Iracheta said. “I think the guys’ 200-yard relay will make it to state.”
Sims said the team is replacing empty positions.
“We only lost a few girls along with boys,” Sims said.”We were already working toward the newcomers filling in for their spots.”
At the Pecos meet on Nov. 11, the Aqua Tribe took fourth combined overall while the Indians were third and the Maidens were fourth.
