STATE CHAMPION: Alvidrez takes win with new record in powerlifting

Senior Andrew Alvidrez made his fourth trip to the state powerlifting meet in Abilene on March 28 count. Alvidrez took the state championship in the 148-pound category with 1,510 total pounds which would have won the next two heavier classes as well. Alvidrez set the state record, which was 1,470 total pounds. Alvidrez squatted 600 pounds, benched 320 pounds and deadlifted 590 pounds.
Alvidrez was the only Indian state qualifier, but his win put the Seminole team score into 5th place.
