Aqua Tribe to compete in Hobbs
The Aqua Tribe competes in Hobbs tomorrow. The two remaining left from the record-breaking 200 freestyle relay re-group and try to break the record once again.
“There is a lot of pressure to break the record from my teammates and my parents,” senior Arin Hindman said, “especially since it’s my senior year.”
The Maidens have placed third at the Pecos meet and second at the Monahans meet so far in preseason. “It’s a new season,” sophomore Faith Klassen said. “You have to begin building your endurance again.”
As the Maidens do their part, the Indians also intend to do theirs.
“I’m trying my hardest to stay on top of my time,” junior Jonah Rempel said. “I’m determined to do better than last season.”
Individual swimmers have goals for the season.
“I really want to break the 200 free relay record again,” Hindman said. “I also would like to break the record in the 200 individual medley.”
For the first time in eight years, the Aqua Tribe will have a diving team.
“I am really excited,” junior Madi Werner said. “I don’t think we’ll do all that great considering that it’s our first year, but we still have next year.”
For the divers, balance and focus are what are needed to improve.
“I’m trying my hardest to do my best,” junior Kenzie Ivins said. “It takes time and patience.”
