Tuesday marked the last game for the Maiden season, the senior teammates and legendary Coach Dickie Faught.
“It was great to end on a win,” Faught. “Winning a game, as far as I go, is great, and it meant a lot.”
The Maidens defeated the Lady Mustangs, 51-32, in the final district game on Feb. 5, putting the Maidens in fifth place with a 15-15 overall record and a 2-8 district mark..
“We ended the year with a win,” senior guard Kaleen Sarli said. “I’m glad that Coach Faught got too leave on one, too.”
Sarli made five three-point shots during the Maiden victory.
“Kaleen saved her best for last,” Faught said. “She finished her high school career on a very high note.”
Faught’s departure has affected Maidens, freshman through senior.
“I’m happy that he is leaving on a win,” sophomore post Baylee Lopez said. “I will never forget the things he taught me.”
Faught talked with the team after the game and received a standing ovation from the Seminole and Andrews fans.
“The girls were upset about it,” Faught said. “They were all happy for me in the end though.”
Sarli was very happy that Faught got to leave on a high note.
“It feels like he is leaving with the seniors,” Sarli said. “I’m glad our senior year and his career got to end on a bang.”
