Despite having plenty of trash cans around the school, students have not been throwing away their trash but instead have been leaving it on the ground. They have been leaving it in places such as in the parking lot, in the stands and in classes.
Although people may think it is not a big issue to just drop trash on the ground since it is only a small amount, it piles up quickly with everyone doing it.
It looks bad having so much trash lying around, and it is just lazy when people don’t pick up after themselves considering there are plenty of trash cans around the entrances to the school and plenty inside the school.
Students may also think it is okay if they are in a hurry and think they will only do it one time, but it is easy to make a habit out of it after a student allows himself to do it once.
It has gotten especially bad in the back parking lot with students going out to lunch and then just leaving their trash in a parking space instead of in one of the numerous trash cans. This has become such a big issue it may potentially get to the point where there will be consequences for students who leave piles of trash in their parking spaces.
The consequences of this trashy behavior is that our school looks trashy. The trash doesn’t just stay in those parking lots. The wind sends our trash into neighboring yards. The reality is that trash never really goes away unless it is dealt with in the proper manner. It is not that hard to simply take lunch trash with you to the school door where there are several trash receptacles or put it in one of the painted barrels in the medians of the parking lot.
Students should stop being lazy, causing litter to pile up. Start cleaning up after yourselves so the school doesn’t get a trashy label.
