Forensics takes sweepstakes in Morton
The speech team took sweepstakes at Morton High on Sep. 27.
Juniors Blayne Childers and Kelby Miller qualified for Texas Forensics Association state tournament in March.
In duo interpretation, Childers and Miller took first, senior Alissa Wright and sophomore Grace Hatley took second, senior Jordan Smith and junior Ivan Froese took third, junior Vanessa Torres and senior Erynn James took fourth, seniors Jimmie Vaughn and Kyle Rickman took fifth, and junior Destiny Winn and senior Raquel Rivera took sixth.
In duet acting, Childers and sophomore Madeline Hiebert took first, junior Haylie Hicks and sophomore Ashley Harder took third, junior Kolt Blackmon and sophomore Faith Klassen took fourth, and Miller and Wright took fifth.
In dramatic interpretation, Miller was first, Harder was second, Vaughn was third, Torres was fourth, Hatley was fifth, and freshman Isabel Acosta was sixth.
In novice domestic extemporaneous speaking, freshman Plato Alexander was first.
In poetry, Vaughn was first, Harder was third, Childers was fourth, Rickman was fifth, and junior Daniel Griffin was sixth.
In humorous interpretation, Miller was second, Froese was third, Childers was fourth, and Klassen was fifth.
In prose, Rickman was first, Klassen was fourth, and Harder was sixth.
In novice poetry, junior Sara Fehr was first, freshman Cade Thomas was third, sophomore Kree Ellison was fourth, and sophomore Sarah Smith was fifth.
In novice poetry, Thomas was second, Smith was third, Ellison was fourth, and Fehr was fifth.
In original oratory, Vaughn was first. In foreign extemporaneous speaking, Rickman was first, and junior Ethan Ruiz was sixth.
