Two juniors took speaking honors at the state UIL academic meet on May 22. Junior Jadon Hatley took fourth and junior Shawn Barndollar took fifth in poetry interpretation. That brought the UIL academic total to 46 points, tying for eighth overall. The one-act play Ghetto took second place at the state academic meet in Austin on May 20. Fredericksburg took the championship with The Miracle Worker.
Sophomore John Paul Sales was chosen best actor, while Fredericksburg’s Olivia McGowen took best actress. Sophomore Madison Burtch was named to the all-star cast, while freshman Blayne Childers was honorable mention.
The play, which was the first event for Seminole in the meet, earned 32 points toward the overall academic championship.
