SOUNDBITE: Wandavision worth watching

SERIES: Wandavision ♦♦♦♦♦ (five out of five diamonds)

Mandalorian may be off-air, but I’m telling you right now to renew your subscription. Disney+ recently dropped a new show called Wandavision, a story focusing on Wanda Maximoff, played by Elizabeth Olsen, and Vision, played by Paul Bettany. If you enjoy Sci-Fi shows that mess with your mind, this is the perfect show for you.

Characters from previous Marvel movies like Monica Rambeau (Captain Marvel), Darcy Lewis (Thor), and Jimmy Woo (Ant-Man), have returned for a new appearance in this series. What does this mean for the future of the show? Will we see appearances from Captain Marvel, Thor, or Ant-Man? So far, we’re unsure, but the opportunities are there.

The show is rated TV-PG for a reason. It does deal with some scary elements, and there is some rude/crude humor littered throughout. Though, to me, its jokes would fly over a child’s head. The episodes that have already been released have no violence whatsoever. The makers have stuck to storytelling, at least for the time being.

Wanda, otherwise known as the Scarlet Witch, is our main character. The show takes place in a fictional town called Westview, and it travels through the eras of television, starting with the 50’s.

Based on what episodes that have been released, I’ve gathered several things about the show. For starters, I believe this whole show is her coping mechanism; she doesn’t know how to handle losing the ones she loved. In Age of Ultron, she lost her brother, in Avengers: Infinity War, Thanos practically killed off Vision by taking the Soul Stone out of his head. That’s what makes this story so trippy. As the viewer, we know what happened, so it’s a little confusing.

Wandavision is actually a build-up to Marvel’s new film, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which goes into the research of the Time Infinity Stone that Strange owned.

In short, Wandavision is definitely worth your time. If you want to test the waters and see if you’d like it or not, Marvel Entertainment on YouTube posted a mid-season trailer that you can watch to determine your stance. For me, it’s a win.
