WHAT’S ON: Disney+ rates A-plus for viewers

Rating: ♦♦♦♦♦

From Steamboat Willie to The Mandalorian, Disney+ has all the classics and new arrivals to make anyone feel like a Dis-nerd.

With new shows and movies arriving with every update, Disney+ is constantly adding to its library and competing with that of Netflix. For just $6.99 a month, or $69.99 per year ($5.83/month), you get access to hours of entertainment that cover many different genres. If you have Verizon Unlimited, you get a year of Disney+, for free!

Here’s the part that will reel your parents in: it’s ad-free, no paying extra or anything like that! Just you and your movies, right off the bat!

For each account on a Disney+ subscription, you can have seven different profiles. Each can be customized to have a profile picture of a different Disney character ranging from Toy Story to National Geographic animals! However, of those seven profiles, only four can be streaming at once.

If you’re big on always wanting to watch old Disney shows or movies, this is the perfect streaming service for you. You don’t have to wait for it to air on TV and then sit through commercials. You can just type your show into search and watch it for as long as you’d like. Plus, you never know, you may find your new favorite TV show or movie since they’re adding originals to the library line up as well.

If you have a TV capable of playing HDR or 4K video, your Disney+ will automatically adjust to that resolution. Now, you can enjoy your favorite movies in a new light! I’ve already watched a ton of Marvel movies in HDR, and it just adds new charm to the movies.

Yet, nothing in this world is perfect, and Disney+ is no exception. With Disney+ still so new, Disney hasn’t quite worked all the bugs out of its system just yet. Throughout the world, the Disney servers are being used, and those servers can get tight and slow. So, if a multitude of people are trying to stream, your movie or show may lag a bit.

Another disadvantage is that Disney+ has still not added some movies to the library. For example, if you bought Disney+ to watch Maleficent or the live-action Beauty and the Beast, you will have to wait.

However, the pros vastly out weigh the cons. Disney+ is well worth the investment. You never know when the Disney bug is going to find it’s way to you… and it’s hard to shake it off. Plus, Baby Yoda is adorable!
