SOUNDBITE: Maze Runner promises to be another line of sequels
Set in a post-apocalyptic world, Maze Runner (PG-13) is a story of a boy, Thomas (Dylan O’Brien), who wakes up in a forest civilization of boys around his same age. He has no memory of his past or the events leading up to his exiled situation, nor do any of the other boys. Thomas soon learns that they are trapped within four giant, concrete walls with only one doorway that leads to a maze. The only way to escape their confinement is through the dangerous, seemingly inescapable maze.
This action packed thriller had my attention from the get go. It kept me guessing though the whole movie, including the end. The end just leaves you hanging! Some might not find the ending satisfying, but don’t let that turn you off. Maze Runner is based on the books by James Dashner, so there will obviously be more sequels. This is the age of the trilogy.
I usually make it a point to read the book before seeing the movie, but sometimes that doesn’t always work out. In this case I was unable to read the books first, but I will make it a point to read them now. I recommend reading the books in every novel-based movie, but I highly recommend reading these books because, if you’re like me, you need to know what is going on.
The cliff hanger is the only downside to this movie. The action kept me at the edge of my seat and even made my brother look away from the screen once or twice. The plot kept me guessing, and when I thought I had things figured out, something would happen, and I was back a square one, trying to figure things out.
This was an amazing movie, and I highly recommend it. Just beware the cliffhanger.
