Multiple FFA teams make trek to state

JUDGING QUALITIY– FFA junior Paige Perryman goes through wool samples during practice in March. The team of Perryman, sophomore Carlye Winfrey, sophomore Kameron Brown and junior Megan Letkeman took second at state in April with Letkeman in first place overall.

Six FFA teams took the trip to state contests which were held around the state during April.

Junior Megan Letkeman took the state championship in wool judging, while the entire team including sophomore Carlye Winfrey, junior Paige Perryman and sophomore Kameron Brown, took second at state. The team had taken first place in both district and area contests.

The veterinary science team took eighth at state with members Letkeman, junior Beverly Fehr, junior Delainee Neal and senior Bricia Lira. The team had previously taken first in both district and area.

The dairy products team took 20th at state with members senior Beverly Jones, sophomore Kaitlin Harrison, senior Jaynaerose Quisenberry and eighth grader Delaney Brown. The team had previously taken second in district and fifth in area.

The horse judging team took 31st at state with members junior Kaly Manzanares, Lira, Fehr and Neal. The team took second in both district and area.

The newest contest to SHS FFA was floriculture. The team which included Manzanares, junior Lacy Jackson, Perryman and junior Ashlea Pool took  3rd at state after taking first in district and area.

The cotton judging team took 80th at state with members Foote, Jones, sophomore Kabrynna Todd and junior Ashley James.
